It’s finally the weekend! Don’t have plans lined up yet? Well, you don’t have to go out of the house to bond with your kids. There are lots of things you can do at home that will be entertaining for you and your children. Teach your kids to work with their hands. Make beautiful things, bake goodies, or even do simple experiments!
Here are some fun activities you can try out:
Get Arts and Crafts-y
Make handcraft frames out of noodles, make wearable art using fabric markers, and even paint on mugs and coasters as gifts for mom and dad. For something different and interesting, you can teach your kids the art of origami or paper folding. It’s a fun way for kids to learn about Asian culture, and you only need paper! No mess to clean up afterwards.
Bake Something Sweet
If your kids want dessert, they have to work for it! Let them help you with baking their favorite cookies. Not only will they learn a lot, you can show them how fun it is in the kitchen. It doesn’t have to be cakes and cookies, either. You can also show them how you make their favorite baked mac & cheese. Don’t forget to teach them how to clean up!
Explore and Experiment
Show your kids they don’t need video games to have fun. Organize a treasure hunt around the house. Set up a fort in the living room and camp in the great indoors. If you want to teach them the value of tidying their rooms, you can even make a game out of it. Set up quick science experiments activities that show the simple laws of physics.
You don’t have to worry about them spending the weekend watching TV or playing with their gadgets. Any of these activities will keep them occupied for hours on end! They’ll even learn a thing or two while they’re at it. After a great fun-filled and educational weekend, your kids will go back to school on Monday hungry and excited to learn.
